Adherence: PU vs PVB

Adherence: PU vs PVB

Polyurethane (PU) is regularly used in the Bullet Resistant Glass industry to adhere the anti-splinter layer (made of polycarbonate) to the package of glass layers.

Traditionally the glass layers are glued together utilizing polyvinyl butyral.

At Optima, we have eliminated the use of polyvinyl butyral in all our formulas and use polyurethane exclusively for adhesion. The adhesiveness and resistance to humidity is immensely superior, giving our products longevity and consistency.
